Government makes Fair Work submission for aged care wage boost

Billions of dollars are on the table to boost the pay of aged care workers after the government made its case to the independent umpire for staff to be paid “significantly higher”.

It’s estimated it could cost taxpayers around $3 billion a year.

The government put forward its submission late on Monday to the Fair Work Commission for a wage boost to the aged care sector but hasn’t put a figure or a percentage.
