Journalist targeted by Iranian regime for ‘second time’ in US

Iranian journalist Masih Alinejad says she has been targeted for the “second time” by the Iranian regime on “US soil” after a man was arrested with an AK-47-style assault rifle near her home in Brooklyn.

Last year the FBI intervened and protected Ms Alinejad from an alleged kidnapping in the US, where an Iranian intelligence officer and three alleged members of an Iranian intelligence network were charged.

She said the White House knows she is being “targeted” after she received a call from US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, who told her they understood the threat.

“The Iranian regime – they are frustrated by the bravery of Iranian women within the society and my crime is just giving voice to them,” she told Sky News Australia host Rita Panahi.

“So that’s why they want to get rid of me.”
