‘Ministerial meddling’: Barilaro slammed for consulting with ministers for trade role

NSW Opposition Leader in the Upper House Penny Sharpe says it’s clear there has been “ministerial meddling the entire way along” for former deputy premier John Barilaro’s US trade commissioner appointment.

Mr Barilaro is currently facing a parliamentary inquiry into his appointment for the role.

“One of the things Mr Barilaro outlined yesterday was how much consultation he did with his colleagues in relation to this,” she told Sky News Australia.

“Minister Ayres, the Premier, the Treasurer Matt Kean – all of them he talked to about this position, and they all encouraged him to go for it, in his own words.”
