Public Service Coordinating Bargaining Council workers obtain certificate to strike

Labour unions have obtained a certificate to strike, with the downing of tools expected to affect public services. The National Day of Action comes after the government’s failure to meet the demands of workers at the Public Service Coordinating Bargaining Council. The workers’ demands include a 10% salary adjustment and the employer maintains that it could not afford anything beyond its final offer of a 3% salary adjustment. This will see thousands of workers in the public sector down tools and embark on marches countrywide with the main one expected to be in Tshwane. Unions are briefing the media, we cross to that.
