National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula has referred a proposed motion for the removal of President Cyril Ramaphosa from office to an independent panel of experts. The Speaker however, says the referral does not constitute a parliamentary impeachment process, but is aimed at assessing whether there’s sufficient evidence that warrants a further process. The motion was submitted by the African Transformation Movement. The decision has drawn mixed reaction from some parties in parliament.
