‘There was an aura of joy about her’: Greg Hunt pays tribute to Olivia Newton-John

Former health minister Greg Hunt has paid tribute to late entertainment icon Olivia Newton-John and discussed her advocacy for cancer treatment and research.

Ms Newton-John was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992 and opened the Olivia Newton-John Cancer, Wellness & Research Centre in 2012 to support people on their cancer journey.

“What has been created at the Austin hospital through her driving force and then through the brilliance of all those involved is the wellness centre and the research institute and these two ideas of hope and research,” Mr Hunt told Sky News host Chris Smith.

“She was always focused on how to advance the cause of minimising suffering for others, creating treatments for others and giving them a sense of the guiding light of enjoying the journey and that there is a pathway through.”
