On the first anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine fierce fighting continues in the east of the country.
Russian forces have been stepping up their assault on the city of Bakhmut which they’ve been trying to capture for around six months.
President Putin appears to be seeking a significant victory to mark a year of fighting.
