Three in four women experience premenstrual physical or mood changes. For women suffering from premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), the monthly symptoms are more than just annoying or uncomfortable – they affect their ability to work, impact on their relationships and increase their risk of suicide.
In Women’s Month of August, the South African Society of Psychiatrists aims to raise awareness of women’s mental health and the importance of early and effective treatment PMDD.
